The Littles

2/7/2019

We have 3 littles at our house - the 5 year old, the 3 year old and the 1 year old. We always refer to them together as "the littles."

During the recent cold, they were playing around with stocking hats inside since they couldn't go outside in the extreme temperatures.

Such cuties!

More hat peek-a-boo with Dad.

My 3-year-old wasn't into the dressing up so much, but he was busy playing with a tunnel tower.

Busy days with these littles. Never a dull moment, but there is plenty of cuteness too!

First Snow

12/6/2016

We had the first real snow of the season this weekend.
My almost-3-year-old couldn't wait to build a snowman.

What a simple way to make memories with a child!
Thanks, Daddy, for helping her build this one!

Snow Fun

2/6/2015

Winter has finally arrived!
In fact we had about 18 inches of snow in 24 hours early last week. I love that... when we can stay inside the warm house and watch it fall.

My kids have enjoyed playing in the snow almost daily. Even shoveling snow is fun, when you've been waiting for snow to finally come! Daddy helped the kids build a snow fort.

Here's my oldest daughter pulling baby girl on her sled. Oh, how she loved this and squealed in delight!

Hooray for snow fun!

Snow Day

1/6/2014

We've had major snow the last few days and now super cold temps to go with it. But before it got too cold to be outdoors, Dad and the two older kids enjoyed some sledding time.

Winter fun!

Snow... finally!

12/28/2011

I woke up to my daughter singing "Praise God for making it snow!" After our green Christmas, everyone was excited to see the white stuff arrive. It was a heavy, wet snow - perfect for making a snowman. Here's my daughter, son and husband, along with neighbor Sarah making a snowman in our yard. You can see the finished product at the top of this page.

Fun times in the snow!

Snow Cream

During the big snow last week, I pulled out two things: a bowl to start collecting falling snow and this recipe for Snow Cream.

Super easy and a fun treat.

1. Collect a large bowl full of fresh snow (best to do this after an hour or two of snow fall, so pollutants are out of the air/snow and you'll be eating only fresh, clean snow).

2. Mix together 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup sugar (I thought this was too sweet, so maybe slightly less sugar next time). Add a dash of vanilla.

3. Mix your fresh snow into the milk/sugar mixture until you have an ice cream consistency. Ours was a little thin - more like ice cream slush - but it was still delicious.

4. Enjoy!

I've heard that you can put your own spin on this - for example, adding a hot chocolate packet to make chocolate snow cream. Be creative. And by all means, let the kids help with this project! :-)

Homeschool Snow Party

Last week I hosted a Homeschool Snow Party at my house. Turn out was low, due to some illness, but those who were here had fun.
We created snowflakes out of popsicle sticks and buttons
.

We decorated cookies - turning some into snowmen and others into snowflakes.

And we cut out paper snowflakes.

If we'd had enough snow outside, we would've made homemade ice cream with snow and spent some time building real snowmen outside. But who's complaining?!
Any excuse to get together with friends is a good excuse!

Snow Fun

While in Wisconsin last week...

and here in Indiana this week, we have had PLENTY of snow,

which makes for snow fun!

Let it snow! Let it snow!
